Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our dynamic research team at the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute. This position will focus on cutting-edge single-cell data analysis of Multiple Myeloma and B-cell neoplasms treated with CAR T-cell therapies, with the ultimate goal of improving cancer treatment outcomes. You will have the opportunity to work at the intersection of computational biology and cancer immunotherapy, contributing to groundbreaking research that could redefine how we treat B-cell malignancies.
About the Project: The research project is embedded in the 2nd call for the AECC Talent Programme, a prestigious initiative aimed at improving cancer prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment through innovative science. Our lab focuses on applying single-cell technologies to analyze and understand the molecular and cellular mechanisms that govern CAR T-cell effectiveness and resistance in B-cell neoplasms. The candidate will play a pivotal role in identifying actionable biological targets to enhance CAR T-cell therapy outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Perform advanced single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis on patient samples from Multiple Myeloma and other B-cell neoplasms treated with CAR T-cells.
Investigate mechanisms of CAR T-cell dysfunction, exhaustion, and resistance using computational tools and experimental data.
Collaborate with immunologists, technologists, and clinicians to interpret the data and propose strategies for improving CAR T-cell persistence and efficacy.
Develop novel computational pipelines for integrating multi-omics data to identify key transcriptional regulators and metabolic pathways involved in CAR T-cell performance.
Present findings at international conferences and contribute to high-impact publications.
Qualifications and Requirements
PhD in Immunology, Computational Biology, Cancer Biology, or related fields.
Strong background in single-cell technologies and RNA-sequencing data analysis.
Expertise in T-cell biology and/or cancer immunotherapy is highly desirable.
Proficiency with programming languages and tools for data analysis (e.g., R, Python).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
Why Join Us?
Engage in groundbreaking research that could transform CAR T-cell therapies and improve outcomes for cancer patients.
Be part of a vibrant, world-class institute specializing in leukemia and cancer research, with access to cutting-edge technologies and data.
Collaborate closely with leading experts in computational biology and cancer immunotherapy.
Contribute to the AECC Talent Programme, which fosters innovation in cancer care and treatment.
Application Deadline: 21 November, 2024 Contact: Interested candidates should submit their CV, cover letter, and references to emereu@carrerasresearch.org. Please reference "Postdoc Application – CAR T-cell and Single-Cell Data" in the subject line.
